Overview
With over 20 years experience in the Information Technology (IT) & other Technology
fields I have overcome many obstacles through inspired work and determination. I
believe technology can be used and shared anywhere in the world anytime it is needed to
enhance our jobs and lives. I contribute greatly to the bottom line of corporate profits.
I have an extremely diverse background that covers many areas of expertise and job
descriptions. I am self motivated and this is what makes me say such things as “there are
no limits as to what can be done with technology with a little imagination”. I can easily
work by myself or in group projects.
Latest Work
My latest projects include what I consider to be the future of technology – Wireless
Technology. From WiFi to Bluetooth to Cellular interfaces and more, there is no limit to
where technology can be used, especially if wireless systems are implemented. Using
Access Points (AP’s), Repeaters, Bridges and more, a wireless signal (data stream) can be
relayed to almost anywhere at anytime.
This line of work stemmed from my previous experiences with network technology –
mainly Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) topologies. Using
lower level established network transports such as the Berkley 2.x network standards for
TCP/IP & UDP protocols I have written transport mechanisms for wired & unwired
network data flow.
Past Software Work
Some of my past work has entailed being an application programmer. As an application
programmer I have written many types of applications (apps) including Graphical User
Interfaces (GUI), database storage, database interaction, multi-user systems and core
code modules (libraries).
One of my most recent major applications involved remote sensor monitoring and remote
control over devices located all over the world. A GUI app made monitoring systems
easy and displaying live data for each object monitored in real time. The ability to “drill
down” to get more in depth info and even manipulate the associated remote device was a
real plus. In effect it was a multi-user remote monitoring, remote control, data collection
application that could reside on a computer interacting with apparatuses located literally
anywhere in the world.
Such work has resulted in other applications I wrote considered “mission critical” and
even gathered data for cost analysis. Mission critical systems, especially failure
reporting, failure data gathering and failure analysis is one of my more interested areas of
work. Especially when coupled with the ability to bring systems back online quickly.
Past Hardware Work
Hardware is also another one of my areas of expertise. I have personally created sub-
systems for hardware that allows for the remote monitoring and interaction with much
larger systems. I have even been down to the circuit board level to assemble components
by hand in order to make such services viable.
In my many years with the IT sector I have worked with many various types of hardware.
My experience started with some of the earliest PCs, through the complete progression of
PCs over the years, to the current 64 bit and multi core advanced computer systems.
I have worked on many kinds of other hardware including wireless and wired routers,
switches, repeaters and access points. And I even have a very good working knowledge
with embedded systems and associated firmware including embedded web servers and
advanced embedded monitoring systems.
Early Work
Early in my career I was involved in high voltage and industrial electrical systems,
mechanical systems and mechanical switches and relays. I received many hours of
advanced formal technical training in these areas. This is what led me down the path to
eventual electronics training and then into computer systems, software systems, computer
networking and eventually wireless systems. I have mixed and matched these areas of
expertise especially in the last few years.
Future Work
What I am looking for in future work is a positive work environment and challenges that
will inspire me to continue to do more and become even more creative.
I have worn many hats during my career, so trying to pin a single work segment on me is
really impossible. I tackle tasks and do not limit my abilities according to my job “title”.
The work I am looking for in the future is more dependent on the actual types of
technologies encompassed then what name is chosen to describe it.
Areas of Work I Can Achieve
The areas of work I can excel in are numerous. I can work with advanced smart systems,
advanced environmental controls, IT, Internet/Intranets systems, Networks, wireless,
automated data collection, and remote systems.
I can also do this work in Western Europe which I consider my second home. I have
traveled extensively and lived in Germany, Austria and Paris, France and I am quite
familiar with their work & social ethics.
